Making Democracy Work

The only place where democracy comes before work is in the dictionary.

The league of women voters is a phenomenal organization, whose mission is unparalleled. I am hard pressed to think of any group with whom I am more philosophically aligned than the league. -- Edward M. Augustus, Jr., State Senator

3rd Edition Directory of Civic Engagement and Leadership Development for MA youth

The League of Women Voters of Massachusetts Citizen Education Fund is a nonpartisan educational trust whose mission is to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government. The League believes that the future of our democracy depends on the next generation of voters and leaders. To ensure that the next generation is prepared, young people need opportunities to learn about government and the electoral and political processes.

The League has compiled this directory as a resource for young people interested in civic engagement, citizen participation in politics and government, and leadership development. Though each program is different, each in some way provides young people with the tools and motivation to participate in the democratic process later in their lives.
